The genesis・基盤

L'ŒIL DE TOKYO started with the idea of creating glasses that were both high tech to meet the primary need for eye care as well as a fashionable accessory.

We are still students with low budget at that time so our products would also have to be manufactured and sold with no intermediary between our factory and the end-customer so we would be able to keep prices low.

We were told that the best eyewear artisans are found in the land of the rising sun so in January 2019, we headed to Japan to make it happen.

Meeting with the Tenyou Workshop (テンヨー工場) in Ōfuna

2024

First store opens in Tokyo.

After a primary development phase exclusively online, we are finally opening our doors in Tokyo, where it all started 5 years ago.

In progress

New factory in Sabaé. The most iconic place of eyewear manufacturing.

2024 will be marked by the arrival of a new range of designs 100% made in Japan.

Our new partner factory is located in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture which bring together the most experienced and renowned eyewear manufacturers in the world for the manufacture of artisanal eyewear.
